Petronas Calls For RM100 Million SOGT Project Tender In Kimanis
KUALA
LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Petronas is calling for tenders for the
RM100 million engineering, construction, procurement and commissioning
of the Sabah Oil and Gas Terminal (SOGT) project in Kimanis, Sabah, the
Dewan Rakyat was told Wednesday. The
tenders are open to qualified contractors and registered with Petronas,
Minister in the Prime MInister's Department Tan Sri Amirsham Abdul Aziz
said. The
SOGT project entails two main components -- site preparation work and
engineering, construction, procurement and commissioning, he said when
replying to an oral question from Datuk Seri Abdul Ghapur Salleh
(BN-Kalabakan). Ghapur had queried on the scope and cost of the project and the method adopted to appoint the contractors. Amirsham
said the tender for site preparation work was called via open tender to
qualified Bumiputera contractors registered with Petronas including
from Sabah. The
minister said the national oil company is also carrying out the
Sabah-Sarawak Integrated Oil and Gas Project involving development of
the upstream sector off the Sabah coast and the downstream sector in
Kimanis -- SOGT and Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP). Under
the integrated project, Amirsham said oil and gas produced from several
offshore gas and oil fields in Sabah would be channelled to SOGT. For the purpose, Amirsham said SOGT would have facilities to receive, store and export crude oil. The SOGT complex will also have an office, operations, maintenance and a spare parts warehouse, be said. The
SOGT, slated for completion and ready for operations in 2012, will have
the capacity to store 2.5 million barrels of crude oil and can handle
300,000 barrels of crude oil a day and about 1.250 per cubic million
feet of gas a day. Crude oil and condensate received by SOGT will be sold to domestic and foreign markets. Part
of the gas received by SOGT will be used to generate electricity for
downstream industries while the balance will be channelled to the
Petronas Liquefied Natural Gas Complex in Bintulu via a 500km pipeline
to be built under the SSGP project, he added.-- BERNAMA
